Consistent with the Mission of the Crozer Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility Center to provide our patients with the most state of the art technology available, Dr. El-Roeiy has completed his certification in minimally invasive surgery employing the daVinci robotics system. This modification on a laparoscopic procedure employs a robotic surgical console, positioned away from the patient in the operating room, which serves to stabilize the movement of the surgeon's hands. Equipped with up to an 11X magnification, the daVinci affords an improved 3-dimensional visualization. When combined with the enhanced intuitive control of the EndoWrist surgical instruments, the daVinci system significantly improves laparoscopic procedures, thus redefining minimally invasive procedures and patient care.

The daVinci system requires smaller incisions than traditional open procedures. The benefits of this surgical technique include a reduction in post-operative discomfort, less risk of infection, and a reduction in the length of both hospital stay and recovery times; thereby allowing the patient to return to routine activity earlier.

Many current routine laparoscopic procedures can be performed using the daVinci robotics system. Additionally, even complex surgical procedures can be performed employing this innovative minimally invasive technology.

Dr. El-Roeiy is currently using the daVinci to perform tubal reanastomosis following tubal ligation and for select cases of myomectomy. The daVinci robotic optics provide superior visualization of tissue planes thus permitting precise reconstruction of the uterus following the myomectomy, allowing patients to maintain their fertility after the procedure.
